Pietra Dura meaning hard stones' in Italian, is the art of
hand-carving and inlaying marble with beautiful patterns of marble and
semi-precious stone. Today, skilled artisans create wonderful
tables, plates, vases and other fine keepsakes inlayed with lapis-lazuli,
malachite, cornelian, turquoise, jade, amethyst, jasper, tiger's eye,
mother of pearl, and other stones. Their attention to detail is so
fine that a one centimeter flower may contain 25 hand carved stones and a
48 inch table may take months to complete. The diversity of their craft and the skill of our workers produces many wonderful pieces
