From Florence, Italy to the Taj Mahal, the art of Pietra Dura has produced some of mankind's greatest achievements.  This art remains alive today as 17th generation artisans perform their craft using simple hand tools.

.

Pietra Dura meaning hard stones' in Italian, is the art of hand-carving and inlaying marble with beautiful patterns of marble and semi-precious stone.  Today, skilled artisans create wonderful tables, plates, vases and other fine keepsakes inlayed with lapis-lazuli, malachite, cornelian, turquoise, jade, amethyst, jasper, tiger's eye, mother of pearl, and other stones.  Their attention to detail is so fine that a one centimeter flower may contain 25 hand carved stones and a 48 inch table may take months to complete. The diversity of their craft and the skill of our workers produces many wonderful pieces

of art, worthy of adoring the finest homes and

buildings.  The durability of stone makes these works heirlooms that can be passed on to

many future generations.  While we have
